clay roots
February 8 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
From pinch pots, to coiled forms and slab built work, this 6 week introduction to working with clay includes everything you need to get started creating your own masterpieces without ever touching a wheel. Follow in the fingertips of the ancient pottery masters as you use time tested techniques to create your own unique vessels, what you can create is limited only by your own imagination. In addition to learning about clay memory and the correct use of hand tools, while building using both additive and subtractive methods, you will also learn how to use the slab roller and extruder. Students are expected to furnish their own apron and hand towel/bandana.
The class includes a bag of clay, along with firing and glazing of your creations. Students will earn studio etiquette, along with the correct care and use of tools and equipment.
After the final firing of the class, participants are invited to exhibit their creations in our gallery and share them with their family and friends.
