Whether you’re drawn by the tactile experience or the joy of creating your own pottery\, this workshop is your gateway to a timeless art form. \nWhat You’ll Experience: \n\nBasic Techniques: Gain hands-on experience with the essential components needed to master the wheel. Our step-by-step guidance will help you build confidence and skill\, as you prepare and center your clay. Then practice how to pull and shape a strong cylinder – the most basic form for any thrown piece. The focus is on controlling the clay and mastering the basics which will allow you to grow.\nShaping and Refining: Once you’ve mastered the basics\, you’ll practice shaping your pieces and refining their forms. Explore different techniques for creating elegant curves and balanced designs. Learn about the elements of a great mug and practice a variety of techniques for making handles. Our goal is for you to create a set of matching mugs with handles by the end of the session\, along with a vase and/or pitcher.\nTrimming: Discover the art of trimming your wheel-thrown pieces. This technique helps you achieve the final shape\, balance\, and aesthetics of your pottery. Learn how to trim excess clay and perfect your pieces.\nExploring Glazes: Get a brief introduction to glazing techniques. Whether you’re drawn by the tactile experience or the joy of creating your own pottery\, this workshop is your gateway to a timeless art form. \nWhat You’ll Experience: \n\nBasic Techniques: Gain hands-on experience with the essential components needed to master the wheel. Our step-by-step guidance will help you build confidence and skill\, as you prepare and center your clay. Then practice how to pull and shape a strong cylinder – the most basic form for any thrown piece. The focus is on controlling the clay and mastering the basics which will allow you to grow.\nShaping and Refining: Once you’ve mastered the basics\, you’ll practice shaping your pieces and refining their forms. Explore different techniques for creating elegant curves and balanced designs. Learn about the elements of a great mug and practice a variety of techniques for making handles. Our goal is for you to create a set of matching mugs with handles by the end of the session\, along with a vase and/or pitcher.\nTrimming: Discover the art of trimming your wheel-thrown pieces. This technique helps you achieve the final shape\, balance\, and aesthetics of your pottery. Whether you’re drawn by the tactile experience or the joy of creating your own pottery\, this workshop is your gateway to a timeless art form. \nWhat You’ll Experience: \n\nBasic Techniques: Gain hands-on experience with the essential components needed to master the wheel. Our step-by-step guidance will help you build confidence and skill\, as you prepare and center your clay. Then practice how to pull and shape a strong cylinder – the most basic form for any thrown piece. The focus is on controlling the clay and mastering the basics which will allow you to grow.\nShaping and Refining: Once you’ve mastered the basics\, you’ll practice shaping your pieces and refining their forms. Explore different techniques for creating elegant curves and balanced designs. Learn about the elements of a great mug and practice a variety of techniques for making handles. Our goal is for you to create a set of matching mugs with handles by the end of the session\, along with a vase and/or pitcher.\nTrimming: Discover the art of trimming your wheel-thrown pieces. This technique helps you achieve the final shape\, balance\, and aesthetics of your pottery. Learn how to trim excess clay and perfect your pieces.\nExploring Glazes: Get a brief introduction to glazing techniques. DESCRIPTION:BOOK YOUR WHEEL!\nSkills: Come learn an ancient pottery practice that is a great technique for Beginners and Experienced throwers alike.  Students in this class will learn to create repeat pieces in a single sitting as well as some basic throwing skills like compression and moisture considerations.  Hump throwing can also help students explore throwing incrementally larger amounts of clay which are useful skills for future class offerings including Nesting Bowls (November) & Big Bowls (January).  While this class primarily focuses on skill building and not creating a specific piece students are likely to create smaller bowls/cups as they practice this technique in class. \n\nPrerequisites: Great for anyone with some basic wheel experience\, suitable for most beginners all the way to experienced Wheel Throwers who want to hone their repeat shape skills or try throwing in a new way!
