DESCRIPTION:Looking for an affordable new way to unwind? \nJoin me\, Deb Eck\, program director and resident teaching artist\, as I gently guide you through the relaxing art of blackout meditation. What is that? It’s an art form I invented many decades ago\, a mash up of blackout poetry\, doodling and occasionally some drawing & coloring. \nThis session will cover the how-to-get-started basics\, along with a few different techniques you can use to take your blackouts to the next level. Absolutely NO prior art experience needed! \nPrevious Blackout students are always welcome to join us! \nBOOK NOW! \n  \nBefore the class you will need to assemble a few simple supplies: \nA pencil and eraser\, \na book you are willing to use to write on/in\, \na sharpie or two (I use an ultra fine point and a regular fat sharpie most of the time) \nIn addition its nice to have – but not essential – \na white gel pen – Posca pens\, uniball or jellyroll pens are all great choices \nsome colored pencils and/or markers \na small set of alphabet stamps & an ink pad \nStencils that fit the size of your book (or smaller) \n

They are a place to overcome the fear of messing things up\, or getting started\, or the blank page. They are a place to PLAY\, and GROW your creativity\, with only the rules you choose to put in place. They can be cheap and cheerful or expensively polished\, whatever suits YOU! \nInterested in learning if they might be a way for you to loosen up and get creative in 2021? Then join resident paper artist Deb Eck\, and learn how to construct several different simple styles of art journals. We will explore both repurposing\, and simple book binding techniques to create a range of journal types. Then we will take a quick look at ways you can start to play in them! \nPerfect for absolute beginners – no experience needed! \nWe will send you a list of materials to gather before the class.
