Gallery Opening: Angela Caley ‘What We Carry’

March 14 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Opening Reception/Meet The Artist: 6:00pm-8:00pm
‘What We Carry’ is a solo exhibition consisting of 11 new oil and mixed media artworks by Angela Caley that examine the human experience. From feelings of anxiety, grieving, finding joy and recollections of times past but held dear, this show can be viewed as the artists’ personal journal entries written in paint.
Angela Caley is a self taught oil painter who uses her image making process as a means to share her personal narratives and encourage others to discover new worlds through her eyes. With a heavy emphasis on symbolism amongst the stylized realism and surrealism, Caley’s aim is to give an accurate account of her life and all her internal struggles as well as her external influences. Caley specializes in mixed media techniques combining ink drawings with oil and acrylic paint on both wood and canvas.
Caley attended Columbus College of Art and Design and continued her education in New York gaining a fine art/studio arts degree while also studying sociology. In the early 2000’s she co-founded the Active Artist Alliance and has participated in and helped organize over 60 exhibitions from St. Petersburg Florida, to Pittsburgh, Ithaca, NYC and throughout Chautauqua County. She  has also had 4 solo shows since 2004. Most recently Caley was in the group show Visions of the National Parks and Beyond at the Crary in Warren Pa and was a member of the October 2024 cohort at Saltonstall Foundation For The Arts, where she was awarded a residency.
