Fiber Arts community get together

We want to get to know our community!

Are you interested in fiber or needle arts? Then join us for a FREE community meet up. We want to hear how Pearl City Clay House can meet your needs. What kinds of classes or workshops are you looking for (or could you teach)?

This will be a friendly get together event. Come hear about the new community art center, and meet some other artists and crafters who share your love of all things fiber. Just RSVP below and we will send you all the details.

Right now we are listing this as a zoom event – but if covid numbers are down we can switch it to an actual in person occasion. We will ask attendees closer to the date which they prefer.

Beginner Embroidery 1 – evening session

February is International Embroidery Month and we are celebrating all month long here at Pearl City Clay House. Join us for one of our introductory classes, or at our celebration of stitching meet up at the end of the month.

This introduction to hand embroidery workshop will focus on straight stitches executed in lines or grids. It is suitable for complete beginners with no embroidery or sewing experience. If you have always wanted to give embroidery a try, these basic stitches are a great place to begin.

Deb, our program director and sewing aficionado will share her tips and tricks for making a simple sampler. We will start with how to lay out your design, then learn some simple basic stitches, along with ways to combine and customize the stitches into more elaborate patterns.

Participants will need the following supplies:

  • a 6″ embroidery hoop
  • a piece of plain cotton (any color is fine) about 8″ square
  • 2 or 3 skeins of embroidery floss in coordinating colors
  • a embroidery needle
  • small scissors
  • a fabric marking pen
  • a piece of plastic canvas

Holiday table runner pop-up

We are so excited to be teaming up with another local creative to bring you this opportunity to create a one of a kind heirloom table runner to add to your holiday table.

We will be joining Tammy of Tammarie Designs in her studio for a special make and take event.

Tammy will share her sewing expertise to help students create a holiday themed table runner. Once sewn Deb will help students add a holiday-themed block print to the runner to complete it. The finished table runner can be further personalized by adding family signatures around the block during your holiday celebrations.
