Start the new year with a new skill!
Join me, Deb Eck, program director and resident teaching artist, as I gently guide you through the relaxing art of blackout meditation. What is that? It’s an art form I invented many decades ago, a mash up of blackout poetry, doodling and occasionally some drawing & coloring.
This session will cover the how-to-get-started basics, along with a few different techniques you can use to take your blackouts to the next level. Absolutely NO prior art experience needed!
Before the class you will need to assemble a few simple supplies:
A pencil and eraser,
a book you are willing to use to write on/in,
a sharpie or two (I use an ultra fine point and a regular fat sharpie most of the time)
In addition its nice to have – but not essential –
a white gel pen – Posca pens, unibazl or jellyroll pens are all great choices
some colored pencils and/or markers
a small set of alphabet stamps & an ink pad
Stencils that fit the size of your book (or smaller)

NOT a workshop or instructional class, but a group for those who want to practice blackout style work and share their ideas and tips with each other.
Deb will start each session with an inspirational quote we can use as a jumping off point for the week’s work if you so choose. Then we will co-work together. Bring your own music or share in the week’s choice. This is chance to relax and get together to share our blackout journeys.
We will start the year out on zoom, but hopefully we will actually be able to get together as the year goes on!
